Inchigeela Festival 2019!   31/07/2019

Inchigeela Festival 2019

It’s hard to believe that this year will the 10th anniversary of the Inchigeela Festival since its revival. Having enjoyed success back in the 70s and 80s, in 2010 the Uibh Laoire GAA decided to host a comeback of sorts and relocated our festival to the picturesque setting that is River Island. Having hosted the likes of Crystal Swing, The Rubberbandits, the late Brendan Grace, Mike Denver and Jenny Greene over the years, there really is something for everyone. We are thrilled to announce we our line up for 2019 is equally as impressive.

On Thursday the 15th of August, we’re providing lovers of Irish country music with a sit-down concert. Titled “A Night with the Stars of Irish Country Music”, we have 7 excellent artists (including Kathy Durkin,  John Hogan, Gerry Guthrie, Louise Morrissey, The Ryan Turner Band, Ray Lynam & PJ Murrihy ) who promise to deliver show stopping tracks for young and old, with Caitriona O Donovan doing MC on the night. Tickets can be bought on the door on the night with the show stating at 8pm sharp.

Friday, August 16th sees the return of the enjoyable charitable 5km Fun Run/Walk with all proceeds going to Local Hospitals in Macroom & Dunmanway. As per last year, the route will head out the main Macroom road with registration open from 6:30pm @ Uibh Laoire GAA Grounds and the race due to kick off at 7.30pm. The route is ideal for anyone who is new to running and is a favourite for people going after some quick times.  Later that night from 9pm in the festival marquee, we will be dancing (over 4 hours of dancing!) the night away with Mike, Helen & Southern Pride, followed by one of the hottest talents in Irish Country Music at the moment, Derek Ryan. Ryan is Irish country music’s golden boy with chart topping albums, self-written smash hit singles, box office busting live tours and of course – an army of faithful fans around the world so make sure to get to the marquee early for this one. Ticket also available on the door on the night.

Saturday, August 17th is once again a day to be enjoyed with the family, as Uibh Laoire GAA Grounds hosts a Family Fun & Sports Day with events for all to enjoy from 2pm. The now cult classic, Inchigeela’s Fittest Family is scheduled to return so the title will once again be up for grabs after last years competitive dual.  Hoping to leave the family rivalries on the field, the night finishes off in style at the marquee from 10 pm with live music from the social media sensation and top-class DJ Marty Guilfoyle, followed by renowned DJ Mark McCabe. This duo are returning for the 2nd year at Inchigeela Festival, firmly establishing it as the “Dance night of the festival”, we expect 2019 to be even bigger so get back to the Marquee early!

On Sunday, August 18th, the final day of the festival, we return once more to the Uibh Laoire GAA Grounds with the Tug O War flagged to begin at 12pm.  A children’s fancy dress parade will provide the evening entertainment from 6 pm, followed by live outdoor music from local singer Leah Hartnett and her band in Inchigeela village. The festival will then close out in style with music at the marquee from 10 pm by the very popular Tradstone followed by the excellent and well-known band Bog the Donkey.

Be sure to come along with family and friends to what is guaranteed to be another great weekend in Inchigeela! We would also like to thank everyone for their continued support over the last couple of years!
